Salisbury Man Jailed After Crash Into Party Marquee Injures 21
A 66-year-old man from Salisbury has been locked up for 16 months after crashing his car into a marquee at a private party, leaving 21 people injured. Peter Bialek, of London Road, Salisbury, pleaded guilty to three counts of wounding or causing grievous bodily harm without intent, plus one charge of causing bodily harm by reckless driving.
Drunk Driver Smashes Into Party Tent
The horror incident took place on October 3, 2015, at Middle Wallop. Bialek, under the influence of alcohol, drove his silver Mercedes into the crowded marquee, seriously injuring three partygoers among the 21 hurt.
Justice Served with Jail and Driving Ban
Mr Justice Teare sentenced Bialek to 16 months behind bars and slapped a 24-month driving ban on him. The court heard how his dangerous driving could have caused far worse devastation.
Police Warn: Drink Driving Has Catastrophic Consequences
“Bialek chose to get behind the wheel that night, despite having consumed alcohol,” said PC Stephen Johnson. “His reckless act left many injured, some seriously, and it could have been much worse. The sentence today is a clear warning – drink driving is simply not worth the risk.”
