Man Locked Up for 30 Years Over Brutal Bromley Ambush Murder
A 23-year-old from Orpington has been slammed with a hefty 30-year jail term after being found guilty of a savage murder in Bromley.
Kevin Lusala Gets 30 Years for Murder
Kevin Lusala, of Eldred Drive, was convicted of murdering 22-year-old Ayodeji Habeeb Azeez. The Old Bailey sentenced Lusala on Monday, 6 January, handing him a minimum 30-year stretch for the killing. He was also given a 12-year sentence for conspiring to rob Ayodeji, to run alongside his murder sentence.
Co-Conspirators Also Face Justice
Three others were charged alongside Lusala. Chaise Gray, 24, from SE25, and a 17-year-old girl were found guilty of conspiracy to rob but cleared of murder. Gray was jailed for 10 years, while the teenager got a three-year youth referral order. Another young man, just 18 now but 17 at the time of the crime, was acquitted of both charges.
Shocking Attack in Bromley Car Park
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Cranwell, leading the investigation, said: “Ayodeji was stabbed numerous times after being lured to a car park. The brutal way in which he was attacked is truly shocking.”
“Three people have today been jailed for their involvement in events that day; Lusala is facing the next 30 years in prison for his role in taking a young man’s life. I would again like to thank his family who have shown such courage during the course of the investigation.”
Ayodeji left Dagenham on 4 November 2018, driving his blue BMW to Bromley. He thought he was meeting the female defendant who had contacted him. Instead, a gang awaited him, ready to rob him. Lusala, armed with a large knife, launched a vicious attack while Ayodeji was still in the car.
Despite trying to fight back, Ayodeji was stabbed multiple times. Gray then drove the victim’s car away before ditching it a few streets later. Wounded and desperate, Ayodeji managed to stagger to a nearby house, asking for help before collapsing.
Emergency Services Responded – Victim Later Dies
Police and paramedics arrived quickly, with London’s Air Ambulance even called in. Tragically, Ayodeji was pronounced dead at 12:59am. A post-mortem revealed he was stabbed 16 times, suffering severe internal and external bleeding.
Homicide detectives sealed the scene and uncovered crucial forensic evidence including Ayodeji’s blood at the car park and inside his car. The investigation highlights the cold-blooded nature of this ambush.
The brutal Bromley stabbing has left a community shocked and a family grieving. Lusala and his co-conspirators now face the full force of justice.
