Hornchurch Man Jailed for Assault and Obstruction of Justice
Nigel Moore Prescod, 44, from Hornchurch, has been locked up after a brutal assault and a shocking attempt to pervert justice. The Woolwich Crown Court sentenced him to two years and three months on Monday, June 3.
Assault and Intimidation in Woolwich
Prescod was found guilty of beating a woman in Woolwich during March and April this year. But that wasn’t all.
He then tried to influence the victim and obstruct the legal process. Prosecutors revealed he sent money to the victim, threatened violence, and pushed her to leave London in a bid to silence her.
Judge Hands Down Tough Sentence
Judge Philip Shorrock didn’t mince words, condemning Prescod’s actions and throwing the book at him with a prison term of over two years. However, Prescod is likely to be released after serving half his sentence, the rest on parole.
Serious Message from the Courts
This case highlights the harsh consequences of assault and meddling with justice. It sends a clear warning: the legal system will protect victims and crack down hard on offenders.
“Such actions will not be tolerated by the courts,” the authorities emphasised, “and anyone found guilty will face serious repercussions.”
