Margate Man Jailed for Six Years After Acid Attack Chaos
A ruthless 19-year-old sprayed a corrosive liquid during a late-night street brawl in Margate, leaving four battered victims – one with nasty second-degree burns. Ronnie Tudor of St Luke’s Avenue, Ramsgate, has been locked up for six years following the shocking attack.
Corrosive Chaos in Mansion Street
The terrifying attack unfolded just before 1.15am on Saturday, November 9, 2024, on Mansion Street – a busy strip connecting Fort Road and The Parade in central Margate. Police say Tudor hurled a powerful alkali substance, thought to be ammonia, into a group after a disturbance erupted.
The chemical spray left faces and chests burning and irritated. One victim suffered severe second-degree chemical burns, needing urgent medical care.
Swift Police Action & Court Wrath
Kent Fire and Rescue Service and Kent Police rushed to the scene, securing the bottle used in the attack and delivering emergency aid. A rapid investigation led to Tudor’s arrest just two days later, on November 11.
He was charged with:
- Causing grievous bodily harm with intent
- Possession of a corrosive substance in public
- Administering a noxious substance with intent to injure or aggrieve
Tudor pleaded guilty at Canterbury Crown Court and was sentenced on March 20 to six years behind bars.
Police Slam Violence, Warn Public
“Attacks like that carried out by Tudor are calculated acts of violence, designed to cause lasting physical and emotional harm,” said Detective Constable Hazel Edgar-Nevill.
“This sentence sends a strong message – violent attacks will not be tolerated, and offenders will face justice.”
Rising Fears Over Chemical Attacks
This harrowing case has reignited fears over the uptick in corrosive substance assaults. Authorities warn against carrying dangerous chemicals and urge anyone spotting suspicious acts to report immediately via 999 or Crimestoppers.
