A 50-year-old Brighton man has been slammed with a six-year jail sentence for a spate of home and business burglaries across the city.
Burglar Snaps Up Thousands in Overnight Raids
Billy Hall of North Road, Brighton, pled guilty at Lewes Crown Court on 14 October to multiple counts of burglary. His crime spree ran from April to August this year, targeting homes on Dyke Road, Highcroft Villas, Chalfont Drive, and even a business on Stanford Avenue.
Raidings While Families Slept
The court heard Hall carried out the break-ins under cover of night, often striking while residents were asleep. He made off with thousands of pounds worth of valuables, including cash, jewellery, laptops, a mobile phone, and a bank card.
Police React: “A Traumatic Experience for Victims”
Detective Constable Grace Boyle, who led the investigation, said: “Burglary is a very serious offence, and we are pleased the defendant has received a sentence which reflects this. It will make a difference in preventing further victims from suffering the traumatic experience of having their home burgled by this repeat offender.”
With Hall behind bars, Brighton locals can hope for some respite from the fear of midnight break-ins.
