Man Jailed for 10 Years After Stabbing Partner in Shocking Home Attack
A Barton-Le-Clay man has been locked up for a decade after stabbing his partner three times during a violent row at their home last August.
Attack in the Early Hours
Adam Latchford, 56, of Bedford Road, pleaded guilty to attempted murder and was sentenced today (Monday) at Luton Crown Court. The attack happened in the small hours of Sunday 9 August when an argument escalated sharply.
Latchford threatened his partner, saying he was going to stab her. He fetched a knife from the kitchen and stabbed her three times in the abdomen and chest. The victim managed to alert a family member, who called 999.
Before emergency services arrived, Latchford stabbed himself in the chest, causing a serious injury.
Victim’s Heartbreaking Words
“I cannot stop thinking about what happened, I have so many questions as to why he would do this,” she said.
“Sometimes I feel like I have been left with more than just scars from the knife.”
Police Call for Victims to Speak Out
Detective Constable Leila Dales from the Emerald team stressed how lucky the victim was to survive.
“Latchford genuinely put her in fear for her life, and she is now dealing with the aftermath. Violence of any kind is completely unacceptable.”
“If someone is making you feel unsafe at home, we can help. We encourage victims to speak out so we can investigate and bring offenders like Latchford to justice.”
“We also provide support through the court process and beyond.”
