Man Busted for Havant and Hayling Island Burglaries

A 30-year-old man has been charged over a string of burglaries in Havant and Hayling Island. Andrew Evan Smith, from Grafton Street, Portsmouth, is set to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates Court this morning (Friday, April 29).

Two Break-Ins Targeted Jewellery

Smith faces two counts of burglary after police linked him to raids at two homes. The first break-in happened on April 15 at a residential property on Montgomery Road, Havant, where jewellery was stolen sometime between 10am and 8pm. The second strike was on April 21 at a Church Lane home on Hayling Island, with the theft occurring between 10:15am and 10:45am.

Remanded Until Court Hearing

Following the charges, Smith has been remanded and will appear at Portsmouth Magistrates Court for a hearing. Police continue their investigations into these burglaries.
