Newton-le-Willows Man Jailed for 15 Years Over Historic Child Sex Crimes
David Ashbrook Sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court
David Ashbrook, 59, from Newton-le-Willows, was handed a 15-year prison sentence at Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday, October 26. The sentence follows Ashbrook’s guilty plea to 15 counts including rape, sexual touching, and other horrific offences against a child.
Investigation Uncovers Years of Abuse
The probe began in July when police received a report of sexual abuse spanning several years. Detectives worked tirelessly to bring Ashbrook to justice, unearthing a disturbing pattern of crimes that shocked the local community.
Police Praise Victim’s Bravery
Detective Constable Louise Parr, who led the investigation, praised the incredible courage shown by the victim in coming forward. She said, “Ashbrook will now face the full weight of the law and spend a significant time behind bars.”
Detective Parr added that the sentence could offer some solace to the victim, affirming they did the right thing by speaking up.
Police Urge Others to Speak Out
Highlighting the ongoing commitment to protect children, Detective Parr urged anyone affected by or aware of sexual abuse to report it to the police. She reassured that all reports are taken seriously and handled with sensitivity by specially trained officers.
