Chaos erupted in East Ham as a mid-terrace house on St Stephen’s Road went up in flames during the early hours of Tuesday.
Quick Fire Brigade Response
London Fire Brigade swung into action after the first of ten emergency calls came in at 1:58am. Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Plaistow, Stratford, East Ham, and Leytonstone rushed to the scene.
Six Treated at Scene as Fire Ravages Home
Half of the first floor was gutted by the blaze. All six occupants escaped before firefighters arrived but needed treatment from London Ambulance crews at the scene.
Electrical Fault Suspected as Cause
The fire was brought under control by 3:22am. Investigations suggest an electrical fault likely sparked the fire. Firefighters reminded locals to check their electrical safety and ensure smoke alarms are working.
