Drill Rapper ‘Rashy’ Jailed for 27 Years Over Brutal Teen Stabbing
Ryan Maqsood, 26, AKA drill rapper ‘Rashy,’ was slammed with a 27-year prison sentence after chilling drill lyrics helped nail him for a savage attempted murder in London.
Brutal Attack Leaves Teen Fighting for Life
The terrifying incident happened on April 15, 2019, when a 16-year-old boy was viciously stabbed 19 times on Brookes Court, EC1. A passerby’s quick thinking saved the teen, who was rushed to hospital in a critical state.
Detective Sergeant Katy Phipps, who led the case, said: “Maqsood carried out a brutal attack on a 16-year-old boy which left him in a life-threatening condition after suffering 19 stab wounds. He is extremely lucky not to have succumbed to his injuries.”
Drill Lyrics Crack Case Wide Open
Police pieced together CCTV footage showing seven attackers on bikes, two of whom chased and stabbed the victim. Two Rambo-style knives with the teen’s DNA were found carefully hidden in bushes. One knife and a backpack were later linked to Maqsood.
The breakthrough came when officers analysed Maqsood’s drill tracks, performed as ‘Rashy.’ One song ominously described the stabbing in detail — info only someone involved would know. A drill music expert broke down the lyrics for the jury, sealing Maqsood’s fate.
Sentenced for Gang-Related Violence
The stabbing was confirmed as part of ongoing gang warfare in Islington. Maqsood was convicted at the Old Bailey of attempted murder and possession of a blade.
He will serve 27 years behind bars, plus five more on licence. A stark warning as London continues to battle knife and gang crime.
