Man Jailed for 9 Years Over Brutal Killing of Eddie Delgado in Hull Bar Attack
A man who delivered a savage assault that killed Eduardo “Eddie” Delgado has been sentenced to nine years behind bars. Michael Bangura, 43, from Hull, pleaded guilty to manslaughter at Hull Crown Court on Friday 19 January.
Deadly Blow at Tam Tam Café Bar
The drama unfolded in the early hours of 9 July 2023 at Tam Tam Café Bar on Anlaby Road, Hull. Eddie arrived at the venue when staff asked to search his rucksack. When he questioned the request, Bangura suddenly punched him and grabbed hold of him.
Thrown to the floor, Eddie tried to get up but was met with brutal kicks to the face. He fell back, hitting his head hard on the floor.
Life-Threatening Injuries and Arrest
Emergency services rushed to the scene around 1.10am. Eddie was unconscious with a critical head injury. Despite hospital treatment, he sadly died nine days later on 18 July. A post-mortem revealed brain injury, cardiac arrest, and fractured facial bones.
Bangura was initially charged with grievous bodily harm with intent. After Eddie’s death, the charge was upgraded to murder. When the trial began on 15 January, Bangura changed his plea to guilty of manslaughter on 17 January.
Police and Family React
Detective Chief Inspector Mick Keech said: “Eddie’s death was a tragedy and a devastating loss for his family. I would like to thank them for their patience and courage throughout the investigation and court proceedings.”
“No argument, no matter how big or small, is worth a life. The choices Bangura made that night left Eddie’s three daughters without their dad.”
