West Midlands Man Jailed for Peddling Deadly Synthetic Opioid in Evesham
Leon Brown, 35, from West Bromwich, was handed a hefty seven-year prison sentence for dealing drugs laced with the dangerous synthetic opioid Nitazene. The sentencing followed his arrest during a South Worcestershire County Lines operation in Bretforton on August 3.
Seven Years Behind Bars for Class A Drug Offences
At Worcester Crown Court on 2 November, Brown received a combined sentence of seven years. This included five years and seven months for two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. Additional concurrent sentences comprised one month for possession of a Class B drug and four months for possession of criminal property.
Crucially, Brown was ordered to serve an extra 18 months consecutively for breaching a suspended sentence order, boosting his total jail time to just over seven years.
Police Highlight Deadly Risks of Nitazene
“Bringing Brown to justice is a great result in our ongoing efforts to tackle county lines drug dealing,” said Detective Sergeant Luke Papps.
“The fact the drugs contained Nitazene — a man-made opioid far stronger than heroin — was a serious aggravating factor in sentencing. These synthetic opioids look just like heroin but carry a much higher risk to users.”
“We won’t stop until dealers like Brown are off the streets. We urge anyone with information on drug crime to come forward.”
