Londoner Caught and Sentenced for Drug Driving

Bayram Eren, 31, from Boyton Road, North London, has been banned from driving after a London Magistrates’ Court rejected his excuse for refusing a drug test.

Refused Drug Test, Blamed Coronavirus

In May 2020, City of London Police arrested Eren on suspicion of drug driving. He refused to provide a specimen for analysis, claiming the risk of coronavirus justified his refusal.

Sentenced and Disqualified

On 18 August 2020, Thames Magistrates Court handed down the verdict. Eren received a £625 fine, a 17-month driving disqualification, a Community Order, and was ordered to complete unpaid work.
