The blaze was so severe that five people required treatment from London Ambulance Service on site. The fire was finally brought under control after a relentless battle lasting over two hours.

The London Fire Brigade, with teams from Bexley, Plumstead, East Greenwich, Lee Green, Erith, and nearby stations, fought round the clock after being called at 09:20.
