Glasgow Men Jailed Over Massive Class A Drug Ring
Two Glasgow-based crooks have been locked up for running a major Class A drug operation across Aberdeen, Dundee, Fife, and Kinross.
Heavy Sentences After Lengthy Trial
After a six-week High Court trial in Glasgow, James Paterson, 34, was found guilty of supplying cocaine and heroin from December 2015 to December 2016. He also stood convicted of money laundering and masterminding others to move, alter, and sell cocaine for him, whilst hiding his dirty cash.
Ian Sweeney, 51, was found guilty of using tech to outwit police surveillance on Paterson’s behalf between September and November 2016.
On Monday, 20 March 2023, Paterson was jailed for 14 years. Sweeney got five years behind bars at the same court.
£1.3 Million Worth of Drugs Seized
Paterson’s arrest on 16 December 2016 followed a major police operation that recovered cocaine and heroin with a street value of £1.3 million, plus £55,000 in cash from their criminal network.

“Lives and communities are ruined by drugs and these men had no thought for the misery they caused,” said Detective Inspector Julia Ogilvie of Police Scotland’s Organised Crime Unit.
“They were intimidating and greedy, caring for no one but themselves. Now, following a long investigation, they’ve been brought to justice.”
