Hackney Man Jailed for Sick Online Abuse of Children

Adam Shine, 25, was arrested at his Hackney home on February 6 after the National Crime Agency tipped off the Met Police. The chilling case involves Shine preying on young girls during video calls.

Disturbing Abuse Caught on Omegle

PC Lindsey Luscombe from the Met’s Online Child Sex Abuse Investigation Team revealed the horror. Shine used Omegle in April 2023 to make three separate video calls with two 11-year-olds and an 8-year-old.

During each call, Shine masturbated on camera and encouraged the girls to expose or touch themselves. Officers quickly found videos Shine had recorded and kept as evidence.

Victim Found and Justice Served

Using clues from the footage, Met officers located and safeguarded one 11-year-old child in the UK. Sadly, the other two victims, believed to be in the US, remain unidentified due to Omegle’s shutdown in November 2023. Details have been shared with American authorities.

Shine, who worked in an adult store in central London, pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey on March 3 to multiple counts, including engaging in sexual communications and activity with children online. He never met his victims in person.

Jail Time and Lifetime Restrictions

On June 14, Shine was sentenced to 4½ years in prison. He also received an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and must sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for life. PC Luscombe said these measures “will help protect other children after he has served his sentence.”
