Chaos in Central London as Dozens Arrested After Black Paint Attacks
Police swooped today (Monday, 21 November) following a spate of black paint attacks on buildings across central London at around 11am. Rapid deployment saw multiple arrests for criminal damage and related charges.
Multiple Arrests Across London Hotspots
- Two arrested for criminal damage at Hans Crescent, SW1;
- Four held at the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy in Victoria Street, SW1 – including one for conspiracy to commit criminal damage and another for carrying equipment to cause damage;
- Six arrested in Clerkenwell Green, Islington – five for criminal damage, one for assault;
- One arrested on Lord North Street, SW1;
- Two held on suspicion of criminal damage at St James Square, SW1;
- One arrested at Buckingham Gate, SW1.
More Paint Mischief and Arrests in City of London
At Portland Place, W1, activists sprayed floor with water-based paint, which was quickly washed away by rain. No suspects were identified there.
Meanwhile, three more activists were detained in the City of London over similar offences.
Police Crackdown on Paint Protesters
The coordinated attacks have sparked a swift police response, with officers cracking down hard on what they call organised criminal damage. The motive behind the paint protests remains unclear.
