Wedding Bash in Southall Shut Down by Police Over Major Covid Rule Breach
Met Police Raid Overcrowded Wedding at Tudor Rose
Met officers swooped on the Tudor Rose in Southall just after 6.30pm on Tuesday, 13 October, to find a packed wedding party ignoring Covid rules.
Inside, the crowd was jam-packed with far too many guests, blatantly flouting Government limits designed to curb coronavirus spread.
Covid Rules Shattered: No Social Distancing or Safety Measures
Police noted there was no sign of social distancing or any effort by guests to minimise transmission risk. The venue ignored strict Covid Secure guidelines.
Current law allows weddings but caps guests at 15. The Tudor Rose was clearly way over the limit, forcing officers to disperse the excess partygoers immediately.
Venue Owner Faces £10,000 Fine for Dangerous Breach
Senior officers have now referred the venue owner for a hefty £10,000 fixed penalty notice for reckless conduct amid rising virus cases.
Area Commander Chief Superintendent Peter Gardner blasted the breach: “This was a dangerous and foolish breach of the regulations, designed to keep people safe from a deadly virus. There is no excuse for such a flagrant and arrogant violation of the law.”
“The venue made no attempt to enforce safety measures or protect their patrons. That’s why we’ve reported them for a £10,000 fine.”
“Everyone must do their bit to stay safe as Covid cases rise in London. The Met will crack down hard on rule-breakers putting lives at risk.”
