Met Police Heroes Commended for Brave Harold Wood Station Incident

Four Metropolitan Police officers have been officially praised for their extraordinary bravery, professionalism, and compassion following a violent incident at Harold Wood Station in February 2024.

Fast and Fearless Action

PC Howsego, PC Straker, PC Ahmed, and PC Begum sprang into action after arriving on scene to find a man seriously injured and an armed suspect still present. The situation was described as “incredibly volatile.”

Without hesitation, PC Straker and PC Begum chased down the armed suspect and successfully detained him despite the dangers. Meanwhile, PC Howsego and PC Ahmed administered life-saving first aid to the victim until the ambulance arrived. They then joined their colleagues to help restrain the violent offender.

Honoured for Outstanding Service

The officers were awarded certificates in a commendation ceremony, recognised for their professionalism, commitment to duty, and exemplary bravery. The Metropolitan Police commended their ability to remain calm amidst graphic injuries and high danger.

“Thanks to the bravery of these officers, the man was charged and has since been sentenced to an indefinite hospital order,” a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said.
