Two former Wiltshire Police special constables face disgrace after gross misconduct hearing
Special constables accused of botching assault investigation
Former SPC Sonny Webb and Tyrone Duncan have been slammed for gross misconduct following a shock hearing this week. The pair were accused of breaching police standards on authority, respect, orders, honesty, and discreditable conduct. Back in August 2020, while on duty, they botched handling a serious assault victim and suspects, dragging out the investigation.
Collusion and cover-up claims made public
Webb and Duncan allegedly conspired together to fudge their stories about the incident, a serious breach of trust. Both quit their roles in September 2020, just before facing formal regulation notices the following month. The misconduct panel, chaired by an independent legal professional, found the allegations proven—ruling their behaviour as gross misconduct.
Dismissal and lifetime ban from policing confirmed
Had they not resigned, Webb and Duncan would have been sacked immediately. Now, both are on the national barred list, banning them from any future policing work across the UK.
Deputy Chief Constable Paul Mills blasted: “The public rightly expect the highest level of diligence and professionalism from police officers – especially when investigating crimes.”
“The actions of Webb and Duncan during that serious assault completely betray our core values—to protect and serve. There’s no place in Wiltshire Police for conduct like this.”
He added, “Their actions will understandably shake public confidence and undermine the dedication of our officers who work tirelessly for the community. We’re committed to the highest standards and will act swiftly when these are broken.”
Mills urged anyone with concerns about police conduct to come forward without delay.
