Tragic Wall Art Tribute to Young Gymnast Ada After Fatal Bus Crash

A stunning mural now honours nine-year-old Ada Bicakci, who tragically died after being hit by a bus in Bexleyheath. The heartbreaking crash happened on Watling Street at 9:05am on August 3. Ada and her five-year-old brother were crossing with a family member when the bus struck them.

Ada’s Fight Ends, Brother Safe

Ada was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries but sadly passed away two days later on August 5. Her little brother was also checked out at hospital but only as a precaution. The local community has been left shattered by the loss of the bright young gymnast and swimmer.

Wall of Grief and Love Grows at Crash Site

Since the tragedy, the crash site has become a poignant memorial. Mourners have left flowers and touching handwritten messages on a wall — including “RIP Ada. We will always love you” and “Rest in peace forever young princess. Sleep with the angels.”

Ada’s family, who lived locally and sent her to a Turkish school in southeast London, have been overwhelmed by support. The little girl held dual Turkish and British nationality and was known for her love of gymnastics and swimming.

Family Donate Ada’s Organs, Driver Arrested

In a selfless final act, Ada’s organs were donated, saving six other children in desperate need of transplants. Her family plans a multi-faith funeral to celebrate her memory.

The bus driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous and drug-impaired driving causing serious injury. He has since been released on bail until November as investigations continue.

Rosie Trew, Head of Bus Service Delivery at TfL, offered condolences: “This will be an unimaginably awful time for their family. We are working closely with police and the bus operator Arriva to investigate the circumstances of the collision urgently.”

Police urge anyone with information to call 101 quoting CAD 2309/03AUG.
