Cannabis Haul Worth £75,000 Found After Police Called to Alleged Assault in Brighton

Suspicious Scene Leads to Massive Drug Find

Police were called to Ditchling Rise last Friday (March 11) over reports of an assault. When officers tracked down those involved at a nearby Beaconsfield Road property, something didn’t sit right.

Following their instincts, officers searched the premises and uncovered a huge stash: over 11kg of cannabis, valued up to £75,000, and more than £10,000 in cash.

Two Men Busted and Charged

Massinissa Lahdiri, 25, and Karim Saadoune, 32, both from 1 Road, Brighton, were arrested. They now face charges of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs and possession of criminal property.

Both men have been remanded in custody. Their trial at Lewes Crown Court is set for April 8.

Detective Praises Officers’ Sharp Instincts

“This is a great example of officers trusting their instincts to investigate further and ultimately take a huge amount of harmful substances off the streets,” said Detective Sergeant Jo Benton.

She added, “I would like to commend them for their quick thinking, which has also led to two people being taken into custody. We will continue to crack down on any reports of violence and drug offences and make Brighton and Hove an inhospitable place for those who spread harm.”
