Teen Stabbed to Death in Croydon: Man to Appear in Court

Tragedy in Thornton Heath

Byron Whyne, 19, from Grenaby Road, Croydon, is set to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 15 July. The hearing follows the fatal stabbing of 16-year-old Damarie in south London.

Fatal Attack Near Bensham Manor Road

Just after 3pm on Friday, 9 July, police were called to a south London hospital where Damarie was rushed after being stabbed in Bensham Manor Road, near Swain Road, Thornton Heath. Despite medical efforts, the teenager sadly passed away in hospital on Sunday, 11 July.

Investigation and Arrests Underway

A post-mortem conducted at Croydon Mortuary on Wednesday, 14 July confirmed the cause of death as a stab wound. A 22-year-old man was arrested initially on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, and later for murder. He has since been released under investigation.

Damarie’s family is receiving specialist support as the police continue their inquiries.
