Ex-Mechanic Jailed for Child Abuse Images in Crawley
Jonathan Price, 35, a former motor mechanic from Crawley, has been slammed with a 4½-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to 16 serious offences. These include distributing indecent images of children and possessing extreme pornographic material.
Crimes Uncovered After Police Arrest
Price was first arrested in December 2022 at his Tilgate home, caught with indecent images of children, extreme pornography, and cocaine. Released on strict bail conditions, he shockingly carried on with his disgusting activities. Police re-arrested him in August 2023 after ongoing investigations.
Desperate Attempts to Cover Tracks
During his second arrest, Price tried hiding a mobile phone and resisted police. He later claimed incriminating phones belonged to friends, but evidence proved he was the user. Further probes revealed Price had tried to engage in sexual communications with children online.
Harsh Sentence and Restrictions
At Lewes Crown Court on March 28, Price was sentenced and ordered to comply with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. This restricts his access to electronic devices and demands he report any contact with children to their guardians. He is now a registered sex offender indefinitely.
Police Fight Back Against Child Exploitation
This case highlights the relentless effort by police to tackle sexual exploitation and safeguard children. Offenders like Price are now facing tough justice as communities stand firm against such vile crimes.
