Paul Mosley, the “sick and deluded” man who helped Mick Philpott kill six children in a horrific fire, has died behind bars.
The Derby Blaze That Shocked a Nation
Back in 2012, Paul Mosley teamed up with Mick Philpott to set their house in Allerton, Derby, ablaze. The deadly fire took the lives of six of Philpott’s children: Duwayne, 13; Jade, 10; John, 9; Jack, 8; Jessie, 6; and Jayden, 5.
Mosley was found guilty of manslaughter and handed 17 years. Philpott copped a life sentence, and his wife Mairead got 17 years, though she was freed in 2020 after serving half.
A Depraved Scheme to Pin Blame Elsewhere
The twisted trio aimed to blame Mick’s mistress, Lisa Willis, who had recently fled the family home with her kids. Their motive? To score a bigger council house in Osmaston, Derby.
But their plot fell apart after police bugged Philpott’s hotel room and caught them plotting the heinous arson. Mosley even helped by sneaking petrol cans out before the fire started.
Chilling Revelations From Police Surveillance
Surveillance tapes revealed Philpott encouraged Mosley to have sex with Mairead—first with Philpott watching, then joining in—a sick subplot to the horror. Mosley was released in 2021 but thrown back in jail in November 2023.
“Sick, deluded and callous beyond belief,” said Andy Lyons, partner of Mosley’s sister, echoing public outrage.
