Plymouth Man Jailed for 12 Years Over Teen Sex Abuse

A Plymouth man has been locked up for a dozen years after sexually abusing a teenage girl. Peter Orme, 34, of York Road, Plymouth, was found guilty of multiple serious sexual offences.

Brutal Abuse Uncovered at Bristol Crown Court

At Bristol Crown Court on 20 October, Orme was convicted of two counts of rape against a child, ten counts of penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15, and one count of sexual communication with a child.

He now faces an extended licence period of two years and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. The court heard how Orme repeatedly abused the victim over several months. Despite denying all charges, the evidence sealed his fate.

Police Praise Victim’s Bravery

“We welcome the sentence given to Peter Orme, who abused his position of trust and showed no remorse or accountability for his actions,” said Police Staff Investigator Aimee Cattell from Plymouth’s Rape and Serious Sexual Offences Team.

“I would like to thank the victim in this case who had the courage to come forward and report these incidents to us. We appreciate how difficult this was. We hope this sentence reassures victims of sexual offending that all reports to police will be taken seriously and thoroughly investigated by our officers.”
