Elderly Pedestrian Dies After Crash With Volkswagen in SE9
Detectives are hunting witnesses and dash cam footage following a fatal crash on Beconsfield Road, SE9. The incident happened on the morning of 24 April, when a red Volkswagen Fox collided with a 75-year-old man.
Victim Succumbs to Head Injuries
Emergency services, including London’s Air Ambulance, rushed to the scene at 10:38am. The elderly pedestrian was taken to Kings College Hospital with a serious head injury but tragically died on 11 May.
Driver Remains at Scene, Police Appeal for Witnesses
The VW driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police. No arrests have been made.
Detective Sergeant Steve Cannings of the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This collision took place on a busy shopping parade at a time when there was heavy footfall. I’m confident there are people who saw the incident but didn’t realise how serious it was.”
