Shocking Attack on Blackpool Tram Over Mask Dispute

A man in his late 60s was punched in the face after removing his mask to speak to his 90-something mother, who is hard of hearing. The brutal assault happened on a Blackpool tram around 8.30pm on September 4.

Victim Left with Bruised Eye

The suspect approached from behind, demanded the man put his mask back on, then hit him. The victim suffered bruising around his eye but thankfully no serious injuries.

Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward

PC Laura Alves of Lancashire Police said: “This was a shocking attack on a man who was simply trying to speak to his mother, who is hard of hearing. We urgently need to speak to the man in the CCTV still and I would ask that anyone who recognises him to contact police. Similarly, I would appeal to the man directly to contact us if you see this appeal.”

  • Wears glasses
