Neighbours’ Nightmare: Katy Ross Jailed for 33 Anti-Social Behaviour Breaches
Katy Ross, of Poplar Avenue, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, has been slammed with a 37-week prison sentence after flouting an Anti-Social Behaviour Injunction Order 33 times. Her relentless disruption drove local residents to despair.
Repeated Nuisance Ignored Warnings
The injunction, secured by Ashfield District Council under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 back in November 2021, was Ross’s last warning after multiple ignored attempts at positive engagement. Despite this, reports of drug use, violent outbursts, verbal abuse, and noisy disturbances kept flooding in.
Police finally arrested Ross, and at Mansfield County Court on 4 October, she was convicted on 33 separate counts of breaching the order.
Strict Injunction Conditions Still Enforced
The injunction remains in force until 16 November 2023, with council and police teams keeping a close eye on Ross. The order forbids her from:
- Allowing visitors at her home between 6pm and 9am (except for emergency workers and certain care staff)
- Committing or threatening violence anywhere in Ashfield
- Abusing Ashfield District Council employees
- Causing nuisance or annoyance, including loud music or banging
- Contacting witnesses involved in the case
- Letting waste pile up or gardens become overgrown, creating rat or mouse infestations
Police and Council Vow to Crack Down
Inspector Jon Hewitt of Nottinghamshire Police said: “We simply won’t tolerate persistent anti-social behaviour that upsets our community. These court orders are serious and must be obeyed or people will face prison.”
Antonio Taylor, Community Safety Manager at Ashfield District Council, added: “Thanks to all witnesses and officers for helping secure this conviction. This sentence should bring relief to local residents suffering due to Ross and her visitors. Our partnership with Nottinghamshire Police continues, with extra officers assigned to tackle anti-social behaviour and crime across Kirkby-in-Ashfield.”
