Drugs Arrest Drama in Haringey Ends with Taser Shock
Police swooped on a Bromley Road address in N17 at 7.40pm on Tuesday, 21 April as part of a major crackdown on drug supply tied to serious violence in Haringey.
Man Charged Under Serious Crime Act
A 22-year-old man was arrested inside and later charged with encouraging someone to commit an offence under the Serious Crime Act 2007. Alongside him, a 52-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of resisting a police officer but was initially released at the scene. She was later charged following a police interview under caution.
Taser Deployed After Man Advances on Officers
As officers entered the property, a man came downstairs and suddenly moved towards an officer. Despite several warnings to stay put, he ignored orders, prompting police to deploy a Taser. The man was not arrested but was checked out by the London Ambulance Service and thankfully needed no further treatment.
Police Conduct Under Scrutiny
The North Area Command Unit has spoken with the man’s family to address their concerns. Meanwhile, the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards has reviewed bodycam footage and confirmed no misconduct occurred during the tense encounter.
