Detectives are hunting for witnesses after a brutal acid attack in Croydon left a man with severe facial burns. The horrifying incident unfolded just after midnight on Saturday, 1 December 2018, when officers on patrol were flagged down on Surrey Street.
Victim Suffers Serious Burns in Late-Night Assault
The 51-year-old victim was doused with a corrosive substance, causing painful and potentially life-changing injuries. Emergency crews acted fast, pouring water over his face before he was rushed to a central London hospital. Thankfully, his condition isn’t life-threatening but could lead to lasting damage, including possible loss of sight.
Two Men Arrested Over Vicious Acid Attack
Police have arrested two suspects aged 40 and 53 on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. Both have been released on bail, with enquiries ongoing and a court date set for mid-February.

“This was a violent and vicious attack that caused serious injury and sight damage to the victim,” said Detective Constable Chris Dimmer of Croydon CID. “I urge anyone who witnessed this incident or has information about the suspects to come forward immediately.”
