Shoplifter Clive Tilley Jailed for Flouting Major Supermarket Bans
Notorious shoplifter Clive Tilley, 43, has finally been locked up after brazenly ignoring supermarket bans across Kent. With no fixed address, Tilley blatantly breached a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) and was slapped with 12 weeks behind bars.
Between 27 February and 4 March, Tilley struck four stores in Rochester and Gillingham, nicking goods worth £385. Despite being banned from all Co-op, Sainsbury’s, and Tesco stores in Kent, he carried on shoplifting regardless.
At Maidstone Crown Court on 7 March, Tilley pled guilty to four counts of theft and four CBO breaches, sealing his fate. Even after his release, the supermarket bans remain firmly in place.
Two More Suspects Nabbed in Kent Shoplifting Crackdown
Kent police are not letting up. They’ve charged two more suspects as part of a ruthless clampdown on retail crime.
- Jake Wilkinson, 33, from Gillingham, faces five charges after allegedly stealing over £1,000 worth of stock across Gillingham and Sittingbourne stores from October 2025 to March 2026. He was arrested on 8 March and released on bail, with a court date set for 26 May.
- Shemica Cabral, 33, from London, was caught red-handed shoplifting more than £200 worth of goods from Bluewater Shopping Centre on 8 March. Charged the same day, she is due to appear at Medway Magistrates Court on 7 May.
Police Ramp Up War on Shoplifting in North Kent
“Shoplifting is not a victimless crime and we do not underestimate the damaging impact it has on business owners,” said Superintendent Matthew Burbeck.
He added, “We will continue to work closely with partners, including Business Crime Reduction Partnerships and shop owners, to find joint solutions to tackle shoplifting and antisocial behaviour.”
The message is clear: North Kent shoplifters beware — the police are watching, and they mean business.
