Gillingham Home Shut Down Over Nasty Antisocial Behaviour
A Gillingham house has been slapped with a Closure Order after relentless antisocial behaviour wrecked the neighbourhood.
12 Police Calls in One Month
Since September 2019, Kent Police were slammed with complaints about an address on Milton Road. August 2020 alone saw 12 separate calls reporting chaos from the property.
Neighbours reported everything from verbal abuse and loud music at odd hours to criminal damage, street brawls, and even drug dealing.
Police Take Tough Action
The unending nuisance forced officers to act. On August 21, 2020, Medway Magistrates’ Court granted a Closure Order banning anyone from living in or visiting the property — except landlords or authorised contractors.
The three-month order means anyone caught breaking it faces arrest, jail time, or an unlimited fine.
Police Step In, Neighbours Breathe Easy
“The woman living at this address knowingly subjected her neighbours to sustained antisocial behaviour,” said Sergeant Steve Holpin, Medway Community Safety Unit.
“We tried engaging with her and her visitors, but they showed no respect for the community.”
“This small group caused a huge disturbance and simply couldn’t be allowed to carry on.”
“Removing someone from their home is a tough but necessary step. I’m confident the community will benefit.”
“Anyone suffering similar issues should report it via our website or by calling 101.”
