Ruthless Reading Burglar Caught Red-Handed and Jailed
A cold-hearted burglar from Reading was nabbed in the act and locked up after terrifying residents in a daring late-night raid.
Burglar Caught in the Act
Mark Beech, 45, of Arborfield Cross, broke into a multi-occupancy property on Aldershot Road at 9.45pm on Sunday, 23 April 2017. Police were quick to respond and arrested Beech before he had a chance to escape.
Desperation and Danger Inside
Beech forced his way in and stole multiple items from one room. Then, desperate for cash, he tried to smash down another door. Fearing for their safety, the occupants barricaded themselves inside but had to slide money under the door to the intruder.
Stolen Goods Listed in Court
On Friday, 26 May, at Guildford Crown Court, Beech pleaded guilty to robbery and burglary. He admitted stealing:
- Cash
- 10 packs of 25 cigarettes
- Black Nokia Lumia mobile phone
- Black HTC One Touch mobile phone
- Nokia phone charger
- Bottle of Davidoff cologne
Police Praise Victims’ Bravery
“This was obviously a terrifying ordeal for the victims who had to endure Beech shouting at them through the door demanding money. We commend their bravery and calmness during the ordeal and hope the victims now take some comfort from the sentence Beech has been given,” said Detective Constable Aodhan Lawrence.
