London’s 61st Murder Victim Named: Yusuf Mohamed, 18, Stabbed Dead in Shepherd’s Bush Ambush
Tragedy struck Shepherd’s Bush last night as 18-year-old Yusuf Mohamed was fatally stabbed. The young Somalian lad’s family had moved to London seeking safety, only for him to become the capital’s 61st murder victim of 2019.
Ambush Outside Local Shop
The attack happened at around 9:20pm outside Intercontinental Foods in west London. Two men lay in wait and plunged a knife into Yusuf’s chest. Paramedics rushed to save him, but he was pronounced dead within minutes.
Witnesses described a chilling scene. Muhomad Afzal, a shop worker for 30 years, said:
“Two men were waiting for him like an ambush. The kid was unarmed and put his arms up to say ‘what’s happening’ but one of them stabbed him in the chest.”
Another witness added:
“He ran inside for cover, but the attacker followed. The poor boy tried to get down the stairs to the basement but was stabbed again. They pulled him back upstairs where paramedics worked desperately on him.”
Family Mourns a ‘Calm, Polite’ Boy with Big Dreams
Yusuf’s uncle, Mr Ulusow, revealed the heartbreaking backstory. The family had fled war-torn Somalia to start anew in London.
“I moved my family here 20 years ago for a better, safer life. But London is so dangerous now. Parents around here are losing kids every day.”
He continued:
“Yusuf was studying and dreamed of being an engineer. A good family boy, calm, polite, never in trouble. He loved football and making people laugh with his funny imitations.”
He pleaded:
“The police need to catch these people before they kill another boy.”
Another Young Life Lost to Knife Crime
Yusuf’s death marks London’s 11th stabbing murder this year. The shocking killing has sent shockwaves through the Shepherd’s Bush community. Locals are demanding action as the capital’s knife crime epidemic continues to claim young lives.
