‘Sadistic’ Teens Jailed for Torturing and Killing Kittens in North-West London
Brutal Animal Abuse Shocks Ruislip Community
Two 17-year-olds have been locked up for the cold-blooded torture and murder of two kittens in a wooded area near Ickenham Road, Ruislip. The boy and girl, whose identities remain secret due to legal reasons, appeared at Highbury Corner Youth Court. They were sentenced to 12 and 9 months behind bars respectively for their “sadistic and premeditated” crimes.
The appalling attack happened on 3 May when members of the public found the mutilated bodies of two kittens — one strung up by a red rope, the other left on the ground battered with burn marks and tied with ropes. Knives, blowtorches, and scissors were recovered at the grisly scene.
Disturbing Details Emerge
The teenagers admitted causing unnecessary suffering to protected animals and carrying knives. The girl, diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, had downloaded disturbing images of mutilated kittens and posted adverts online to buy more animals under the pretence of wanting company.
“There is evidence you may have been the instigator and more willing to cause the kittens’ suffering for attention,” the judge told her.
Lifetime Animal Ban and Court Fallout
- Both teens banned for life from owning or caring for any animals.
- Ordered to pay a £41 victim surcharge each.
- The girl’s pet rabbit was also seized by the court.
- Neither had previous convictions, but the judge called these crimes among the “most awful offences against animals” ever seen in court.
RSPCA and CPS Condemn ‘Unimaginable’ Cruelty
Stephen Hancock, Senior Crown Prosecutor, slammed the killings as an “unimaginable act of cruelty on two defenceless animals which caused immense shock across our community.”
An RSPCA spokesperson added: “This attack was horrific and completely unnecessary. We’re deeply concerned more young people are exposed to animal cruelty, raising serious questions about how animals are valued today.”
Public’s Sharp Eyes Help Catch Perpetrators
Thanks to photos and CCTV footage from vigilant members of the public, police tracked down the teens carrying a moving animal carrier near the crime scene.
Police Warn of Escalating Violence
The Metropolitan Police said both suspects showed limited remorse during interviews. Detectives called the incident a “chilling escalation of violent fantasies,” noting troubling concerns over the boy’s expressed desire to harm humans.
