Sentencing of Police Officer Matthew Olive for Misconduct Rescheduled to 16 May

The sentencing of police officer Matthew Olive, known online as DCEA, has been postponed and is now due to take place on 16 May 2025.

Olive was previously set to be sentenced today after pleading guilty to four counts of Misconduct in Public Office. The charges relate to allegations that he shared confidential police information with Rebecca Tidy and Faye Louise Osmund-Smith (also known as Floss Smith-Griffiths).

The misconduct charges sparked major concerns about data breaches within the force and have attracted significant public and media attention.

No reason for the rescheduling has been publicly disclosed.

The case has heightened scrutiny over the misuse of sensitive police information and the potential breaches of public trust by serving officers.

More updates are expected after the new court date.
