Met Police Officer Found Guilty of Rape in Antigua
PC Lee Martin-Cramp, a serving Met officer attached to Merton borough, was today found guilty of rape following a trial in Antigua. The verdict came on Thursday, 23 May, after the trial began just a week earlier, on 16 May. Sentencing will be announced at a later date.
Serious Charges Spark Misconduct Review
With the criminal case over, the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards (DPS) will launch a misconduct review into Martin-Cramp’s conduct. Commander Catherine Roper, head of Professional Standards, blasted the officer’s actions.
“PC Martin-Cramp has been found guilty of an extremely serious offence by an Antiguan court. The evidence revealed how he exploited the victim’s trust, abusing his position as a police officer in the most deplorable way. His behaviour is utterly unacceptable for any decent person, especially someone sworn to protect and keep the public safe. He will now face expedited misconduct proceedings.”
