Seven Arrests Made in Southampton Murder Probe
Detectives have swooped again in the murder investigation of Michael Freshwater, making a fresh arrest on Wednesday, May 4. A 25-year-old man was taken in on suspicion of perverting the course of justice, bringing the total number of arrests to seven.
Body Found in Southampton Home
Michael Freshwater’s body was discovered at a property on Westridge Road shortly after 4.15pm on Friday, April 29. Police quickly launched Operation Windless to crack the case.
Just a day after the discovery, a 26-year-old Southampton man was arrested on suspicion of murder and later bailed as enquiries continue.
Charges and Bail Details
- On Tuesday, May 3, a 23-year-old Southampton woman was arrested for conspiracy to supply Class A drugs. She has since been released on bail until July 6.
- A 24-year-old Southampton man was also arrested the same day on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and assisting an offender. He remains on bail until July 6.
- A 22-year-old man was arrested for conspiracy to supply Class A drugs and bailed until July 5.
- Ashton Singh, 26, of Westridge Road, appeared at Southampton Magistrates charged with perverting the course of justice. He has been remanded in custody.
Detectives Plead for Help
“This remains an active murder investigation,” said Detective Superintendent Becky Riggs. “We have arrested a number of people to clarify the events leading up to, during, and after Michael’s death. We are working around the clock, using every tactic to gather evidence and bring justice.”
