Gillingham Sex Offender Jailed for Deleting Internet History

Edwards Flouts Internet Ban

Nigel Edwards, 54, was locked up after breaking the rules of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). The Gillingham man, convicted in 2021 for making indecent images of children, was forbidden from deleting his browsing history – yet he wiped it anyway.

Police Catch Edwards Red-Handed

On 18 January 2026, cops spotted suspicious gaps in Edwards’ laptop data. They quickly seized his device and arrested him three days later for breaching his SHPO by deleting internet history.

14 Months Inside for Edwards

At Maidstone Crown Court on 23 March, Edwards pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 14 months behind bars. He remains under the SHPO for another five years.

“Court orders like these are vital to monitor convicted sex offenders and protect children,” said Police Constable Harriette Barraclough.

“This case proves we’ll use every power available to bring offenders like Edwards to justice.”
