Siobhan Collins-Grant Jailed for 8 Years Over Fatal Belmont Street Stabbing
Siobhan Collins-Grant, 26, was handed an eight-year prison sentence at the Old Bailey for manslaughter following the death of 22-year-old Sahkira Loseke.
Fatal Stabbing Caught Police on Night of Horror
On the night of Sunday, 8 September 2019, police rushed to Belmont Street after reports of a stabbing at 11:12pm. They found Sahkira suffering a serious stab wound to her chest. Despite frantic efforts by emergency services, she tragically died at the scene.
A post-mortem confirmed Sahkira died from a single stab wound that pierced her aorta and heart.
Clash Between Rival Groups Ends in Tragedy
Detectives pieced together the events leading to the fatal attack. Collins-Grant had gone to a Belmont Street address to collect belongings, bringing a group of female friends with her. Sahkira and two others had also arrived at the same flats.
A heated argument broke out between the two groups, who were already known to each other. Though Collins-Grant hadn’t interacted directly with Sahkira before, witnesses said she suddenly ran at Sahkira, threw a punch, then stabbed her twice in the chest.
After Sahkira collapsed, Collins-Grant fled the scene, briefly returned to ask, “What have I done?” She then discarded the knife by throwing it into Regent’s Canal, where police later recovered it.
Guilty Plea After Police Manhunt
Collins-Grant handed herself in to police four days later, on 12 September. She was charged with murder and possession of a bladed weapon in public.
Police enquiries uncovered that Collins-Grant and Sahkira had clashed before at a nightclub weeks earlier, hinting at a history of tension between them.
On 12 March, Collins-Grant pleaded guilty to manslaughter. The following day, she was sentenced to eight years behind bars.
