Murder Probe Heats Up in Knowsley Shooting

Merseyside Police have made a major breakthrough in the murder investigation of 36-year-old Rikki Berry. The dad was fatally shot in a targeted attack on Quarryside Drive, Knowsley, on July 17.

Second Suspect Snared

A 26-year-old man from Kirkby has been arrested on suspicion of murder, the second arrest linked to the case. This follows the detention of a 20-year-old last week. Tragically, Mr Berry died in hospital soon after the attack.

So far, six people have been arrested over the killing. Alongside the two men held for murder, two women aged 19 and 50, a 22-year-old man, and a 15-year-old boy – all from Prescot – were arrested on suspicion of helping offenders. They’ve since been bailed while detectives continue their inquiries.

Vehicle of Interest Drives Investigation

Detectives have released pics of a black Seat Ateca Cupra, registration YT20 XVN, believed linked to the crime. The car has a distinctive blue GB sticker and was seized in Prescot last Friday.

“Our enquiries are moving at a fast pace,” said Detective Chief Inspector Cath Cummings. “We need the public’s help to track the vehicle’s movements before and after the murder.”

The police urge anyone in the area to check dash cams, CCTV, or doorbell footage for the car.

Police Appeal for Public Help

Merseyside Police are begging witnesses or anyone with footage of the Seat Ateca Cupra to come forward. Public information could be the missing piece to cracking the case.

The force remains determined to bring those responsible for Mr Berry’s death to justice. Anyone with information is urged to contact Merseyside Police or provide an anonymous tip to Crimestoppers.
