Sussex Man Jailed for Seven Years After Campaign of Abuse on Kent Woman

A Brighton man has been locked up for seven years for terrorising a Kent woman with a brutal spree of control, violence, and sexual assault. Andrew Wilson, 29, formerly of Brompton Close, Brighton, was convicted after a harrowing investigation by Kent Police.

Horrific Abuse and Control

Wilson met his victim from Ashford in 2023, but their relationship quickly spiralled into a nightmare. His abusive tactics included:

  • Dictating the victim’s clothing and forcing her to delete social media contacts.
  • Subjecting her to sexual assault and suffocation.
  • Intimidating and physically abusing her.
  • Continuing harassment and threats even after the victim ended the relationship.

Police Hunt and Conviction

The victim bravely reported Wilson to Kent Police. With help from Sussex Police, he was arrested in Brighton on 19 January 2024 and charged the next day. Found guilty at Lewes Crown Court, Wilson was sentenced on 12 November 2024.

Justice Served and Support for Victims

“Wilson is a violent and dangerous offender who preyed upon the vulnerabilities of his victim. It is right that he has been jailed,” said Detective Constable Kellen Blackwell, the lead investigator.

“The restraining order on Wilson will offer reassurance to the victim, who showed huge bravery in coming forward.”

Wilson faces an additional two years on licence after his release and is banned indefinitely from contacting the victim.

Kent Police remain committed to tackling violence against women and supporting victims through every step of the process.
