Teen Duo Busted for String of Stick-Ups at Bluewater Mall
Three Robberies and Two Attempts in Half an Hour
Kent Police swooped after a spree of robberies struck Bluewater shopping centre on the evening of Monday, 30 December 2019. Between 7pm and 7.30pm, three victims had their phones and cash snatched, with two further attempts reported.
Threats of Weapons Spark Panic
Witnesses revealed the teens threatened them with weapons — or at least claimed to have them — to intimidate their targets. A total of five victims were left out of pocket, adding to a tense atmosphere in the usually busy mall.
Two 17-Year-Old Londoners Caught and Held
Police quickly tracked down and arrested two 17-year-old boys from London nearby. Both remain in custody as officers continue their investigation. Some stolen items were recovered during the searches.
Detective Inspector Martin Carter said: “Reports like these are rare but unacceptable nevertheless. Officers made arrests very soon after the robberies were reported and some of the stolen property was recovered.”
He added: “We are working with Bluewater and reviewing CCTV footage, but if anyone saw what happened and hasn’t spoken to us yet, please call Kent Police on 01474 366 149 quoting 30-1219.”
