Shoplifter Caught After Sussex Spree – Jailed for Four Months
A serial shoplifter has been handed a four-month jail term after a theft spree across Sussex. Adam Gibbs, 33, with no fixed address, struck at stores in Worthing, Eastbourne, and Broadwater.
The Theft Trail: Worthing to Broadwater
- On 4 February, Gibbs swiped a £59.99 tool from The Range on Ham Road, Worthing.
- On 30 March, he targeted HMV in The Beacon, Eastbourne, trying to nick vinyl records. Staff caught him before he could escape with the goods.
- On 5 June, he stole several food items from the Co-op on Cricketers Parade, Broadwater. The stolen items were later recovered.
Gibbs Admits All Charges, Lands Jail Time
Gibbs faced Crawley Magistrates’ Court on 6 June and pleaded guilty to three separate counts of shoplifting.
“The sentence reflects the seriousness of his offences,” court officials said after sentencing.
The 33-year-old was promptly sentenced to four months behind bars, sending a clear message that shoplifting won’t be tolerated in Sussex.
