Wiltshire Cop Sacked for Gross Misconduct After Sexual Comments
A Wiltshire police officer has been fired without notice following a damning hearing over his shockingly inappropriate behaviour.
Two-Day Hearing Highlights Shocking Breaches
PC Kyle Carter from Swindon was slammed after a two-day hearing at Wiltshire Police HQ. An Independent Legally Qualified Chair found Carter guilty of gross misconduct, ruling his actions breached professional standards around authority, respect, equality, and conduct.
In March 2023, Carter repeatedly made sexualised comments towards female colleagues. He also behaved improperly by placing his hand on a colleague’s back despite being told to stop. On top of that, he tried to go on patrol with a colleague against direct supervisor orders.
Deputy Chief Constable Issues Strong Warning
Deputy Chief Constable Paul Mills said: “The actions of PC Carter fell well below the exemplary standards of professionalism that the public quite rightly expect from all police officers and staff.
“His behaviour also directly conflicts with the culture we continue to embed within our organisation.
“Upon becoming aware of his behaviour, he was immediately suspended and the Force Professional Standards Department launched an investigation.”
“There is no place in Wiltshire Police for anyone who conducts themselves in this wholly inappropriate manner. PC Carter will now be banned nationally from policing roles.”
“We are committed to maintaining the highest standards and will act decisively if they are not met. We encourage staff to use anonymous reporting tools to raise concerns, helping create a positive, supportive culture for all.”
Public Encouraged to Report Misconduct
The Force urges any community members worried about officer behaviour to contact the Force Professional Standards Department, CrimeStoppers, or the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
