Teen Jailed for Brutal Portsmouth Attack
A 16-year-old boy from Portsmouth has been locked up for five years after a savage assault left a man battered and unconscious.
Unprovoked Assault in Kingston Road
In the early hours of Monday 23 July, a group of youths attacked two separate groups near the Esso petrol station on Kingston Road. The worst hit was a 44-year-old man who was brutally punched and kicked while lying unconscious on the ground.
The victim suffered multiple cuts, lost two teeth, and broke his cheekbone in the brutal attack.
Justice Served
On Thursday 8 November, the Portsmouth teenager pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent. He was sentenced to five years in a young offenders’ institute.
Detective Constable Sam Hockley said: “This was a particularly nasty, unprovoked attack, which knocked the victim unconscious and left him unable to talk for some time. I hope the sentence that this young offender has received will help the victim put the ordeal of the assault behind him.”
Police Crack Down on Violence
Detective Chief Inspector added: “Tackling violence is a priority for us in Portsmouth. This sentence highlights the severity of this crime, and I hope it reassures our community that we will do everything in our power to bring offenders to justice.”
