Four Men Held in Major UK Terror Sweep
Four Iranian men arrested in a nationwide anti-terror blitz can be held until Saturday, 17 May, after magistrates approved extended detention warrants. The suspects, aged 29 to 46, were taken into custody on Saturday, 3 May under Section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006, which relates to the preparation of terrorist acts.

Investigation Continues With Extensive Searches
The fifth suspect, also Iranian, was held under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) and has since been released on bail with strict conditions. Police have carried out extensive raids at homes across Greater Manchester, London, and Swindon as part of the probe.
“This is a significant and highly complex investigation,” said Commander Dominic Murphy, Head of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command. “We urge the public not to speculate or spread unverified information. We’re working at pace to keep the public safe.”
Public Alert & National Security Concerns
Security chiefs stress the public’s safety remains paramount as the investigation rolls on. Commander Murphy added:
“We appreciate the support of police forces across the country. The public plays a vital role in preventing terrorism — if you see something suspicious, say something.”
The arrests are part of a nationally coordinated operation run by the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command, under Counter Terrorism Policing UK. Authorities have not disclosed any specific plots, targets, or motives but say the case involves serious national security concerns.
