Wootton Martial Arts Instructor Jailed for 13½ Years Over Shocking Child Sex Crimes
Steven Oxborrow’s Sickening Crimes Spanned Seven Years
Steven Oxborrow, 33, from Wilverley Road in Wootton, was slammed with a total prison sentence of 13 and a half years after being found guilty of a string of horrific child sex offences. The former children’s martial arts instructor and entertainer abused three children repeatedly between January 2005 and June 2012, southampton/" title="Southampton" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Southampton Crown Court heard.
Oxborrow pleaded guilty to five counts of sexual activity with a child under 13, three counts of sexual assault, two counts of making indecent photos, possession of indecent images of children, and the rape of a child under 13.
Victims’ Brave Testimony Uncovered the Abuse
The vile crimes only came to light after one victim, aged 12, alerted authorities when a parent found indecent messages between them on a family computer. Further investigations revealed two more victims who suffered abuse at Oxborrow’s hands.
Specialist officers seized Oxborrow’s computer, uncovering indecent images of children. The court also heard a third victim came forward, reporting abuse during martial arts classes, which led to Oxborrow’s arrest and charges.
Justice Served – Life Restrictions and Sex Offender Register
On 26 May at Southampton Crown Court, Oxborrow was sentenced to 13½ years behind bars, plus an extra year on licence. He was slapped with an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and must sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.
All three victims have been granted lifelong restraining orders banning Oxborrow from contacting them.

“Firstly I would like to commend the bravery and courage of the three victims in reporting the abuse in the first instance, with each one showing maturity beyond their years and playing a vital role in securing justice,” said Detective Constable Donna Kay of Hampshire Constabulary’s Amberstone Unit.
“Oxborrow was a dangerous predator who groomed not just the victims but their families, appearing as a respected community figure.
“We hope this sentence brings some closure and reassurance that he can no longer hurt these children. Hampshire Constabulary is committed to supporting survivors and bringing offenders to justice.”
