Lorry Driver Busted Trying to Smuggle Migrants Out of UK
Dover Stop Ends Migrant Escape Attempt
A Romanian lorry driver has been arrested and charged after trying to smuggle four migrants out of the UK. Officers from the National Crime Agency (NCA), backed by police, stopped the HGV near the port of Dover at around 1.30pm on 1 October.
Four Migrants Found Hidden in Trailer
Inside the trailer, officers discovered four adult male migrants: two Bangladeshi, one Indian, and one Egyptian. All are suspected of being in the UK illegally. They were handed over to immigration authorities for further action.
Driver Charged with Immigration Offence
The driver, 35-year-old Marius Halmaghe from Romania, now faces charges for facilitating a breach or attempted breach of immigration law involving non-EU citizens.
